The Aikido Association of America (AAA) was founded by the late Fumio Toyoda Shihan and has continued under the guidance of the Toyoda Family. The AAA is based in Chicago. Its mission is to promote training in the art of Aikido, to foster quality, professional Aikido instruction, and to ensure continuation of the teachings of Fumio Toyoda Shihan.

Aikido World Headquarters (Hombu Dojo) in Japan carries on the traditions and practice of Aikido internationally through several organizations. As part of this network, the AAA is an extension of Hombu Dojo.

The AAA provides instruction in all aspects of Aikido, recognition of schools, rank certification by standardized tests, and instructor certification. It currently has more than 120 affiliated dojos worldwide.

Chushinkan Dojo is the U.S. Western States Headquarters of the AAA.

An active calendar of seminars and cultural events ensures that students from all over the world have regular opportunities to receive instruction from Teaching Committee instructors. Instructors' Seminars are held annually to renew teaching certifications.
