Randell Yamamoto instructed a Shodo (Japanese calligraphy) class at the dojo in December, 2006. After some general information about the history of the art, Mr. Yamamoto displayed two pieces of his work. He then demonstrated how to mix ink using a charcoal stick and an ink stone, and instructed the class in some shodo basics.

Aikido students, their families, and guests enjoyed the challenge of brushing the characters for "aikido".

Mr. Yamamoto's shodo has been displayed in exhibits throughout Japan and has received various awards. He began studying Shodo in Japan and continues to study in the U.S. under Rev. Kanshu Ikuta Sensei.
